How to take benefit of SIPP Scheme in India- Register as Startup

The SIPP Scheme is designed to help startups in India protect their Intellectual Property (IP) (patents, trademarks, designs) with financial and professional support from  Government of India


 1. Understand What SIPP Offers

Under SIPP, eligible startups get:

The government pays the facilitator’s professional fees.


2. Check Eligibility

You must be a recognized startup under Startup India.

Register Your company/ LLP as startup.

Basic criteria:

  • Registered as a Private Limited Company / LLP / Partnership
  • Less than 10 years old
  • Annual turnover below ₹100 crore
  • Working on innovation, improvement, or scalable business model

You need a Startup Recognition Certificate (DPIIT).


3. Register Your Startup (If Not Already)

4. Choose a SIPP Facilitator

After recognition:

  • Select Swarupa Ghosh – Listed as a facilitator from the government-approved list
  • These include patent agents, trademark agents, and IP firms

The facilitator will:

  • Advise you on IP strategy
  • Draft and file applications
  • Handle prosecution (objections, hearings)

5. File Your IP Application

With the facilitator’s help:

6. Claim Fee Benefits

You will get:

  • Reduced statutory filing fees (paid directly by you at discounted rates)
  • Facilitator fees reimbursed by the government

You don’t need to pay professional charges (in most cases).
